Add a power supply PLN Aceh from PT KKA

Jakarta – Electrical systems in Aceh, especially in the northern part of Aceh in the near future will soon get an extra power supply for 22 Megawatt (Mw). Additional PLN will be obtained from the operation of Posat Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) belonging to one state, PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (KKA).

Cooperation is contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation Operations Facility Rental Power Plant for local Lhokseumawe, Aceh between PT PLN and PT KKA. This power plant will be operated through a scheme which is based on the synergy of good corporate governance.

Plant owned by PT KKA operated using Steam Turbine Generator-made General Electric Energy (GEE) with a capacity of 2×18 MW. But since December 2007, the power plant is no longer operated by PT KKA stop producing.

On the other hand, the company needed additional power supply in the region of Aceh. For this reason, the PLN and PT KKA agreed to cooperate in the use of power plants owned by PT KKA.

“This MoU PLN hopes to soon be followed up with concrete steps to realize this cooperation, including the completion of modifications to the turbines, which we hope will be completed in September 2012, so that the power plants become more efficient and ready for operation late 2012, together of course with perform power purchase contract or Power purchase Agreement (PPA), “said President Director of PLN Nur Pamudji in a statement in Jakarta, Monday (18/06/2012).

Director of Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA) Boyke Mukiyat mentioned that this partnership is a form of participation make healthy PT PLN in KKA. “We hope that this cooperation can provide a real added value for both SOEs to be based on the spirit of synergy between the state,” said Boyke.
