Indonesia is the Fifth Country Vaccine Manufacturers pentavalent

BANDUNG – AFP: Indonesia became the fifth country in the world as a manufacturer of pentavalent vaccine, developed by PT Bio Farma (Persero) to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets.

“Pentavalent vaccine is ready for launch in late 2012. Our latest breakthrough is the production of vaccines puts Indonesia as the fifth country to produce pentavalent vaccine,” said Head of Public Relations of PT Bio Farma (Persero) Nurlaela in Bandung, West Java, on Friday (23/3).

Pentavalent vaccine is a combination vaccine of the five variants of the vaccine, the diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and hermophilusinfluenza type B (HIB). Other countries are already memproduksivaksin that include the United States, Belgium, and France.

According Nurlaela, pentavalent vaccine will be marketed overseas as it has got the certification from WHO. Latest addition of the Bio Farma vaccine will also meet domestic demand and is now undergoing the process of supervision in the Food and Drug Agency (BPOM) to further disseminated and used.

“This vaccine will support the program imuninasi in Indonesia, but also more effective fuller,” he said.

Pentavalent production rate depends on your needs. In Indonesia, this vaccine targets infants consumed 4.8 million. In addition to the new vaccine, Bio Farma marketing target this year would reach Rp1, 4 trillion, or grew 10% to 15% when compared with 2011. (Ant/OL-01)
